Studies: Exodus 32:1-35
Question:
How many times have we reverted back to our old ways because we didn't hear from God the way we're accustomed to Him speaking?
Let me give you a quick run down on Exodus 32...The people of Israel seen where Moses was delayed, and decided that they needed a god to worship in his absence. Here comes Aaron not walking in his authority the way he was consecrated to do, he decided it was an good ideal to give them their wishes. Now, God is furious because the moment an opportunity presented itself to go back to what was comfortable to them, they took it and ran with it. When Joshua (Moses other right hand man) heard the sound of the people, Moses was like hold up that's not a sound of war because it doesn't sound like a victory cry or a cry of defeat. Moses was hot, and God spoke to him concerning the sin they committed. Now, the Levites was ordered to take their sword and go through the camp because at this point you're wasting God's time being stiff-necked. Exodus 32:33 "The Lord replied to Moses: "Whoever has sinned against me I will erase from my book". Don't play with God!
As you read this chapter you will notice:
- God delayed Moses on purpose to see what His people will do. (Also, from Sunday's Recap)
- The people are still mentally bound in their old ways
- They become impatience so easily
- They are stiff-necked (Ex. 32:9)
- They were quick to worship other gods the moment they seen something unfamiliar happening
- They tried to experience the freedom of God with an old mindset (Ex. 32:5-6)
- Reverting back to their old ways caused them to die in the hands of the Levites (Ex. 32:28)
How can we apply this to our life:
* Learn to be patience in the times that God is trying to grow us.
* Be intentional to use every impartation that was given whether being seen or unseen
* Let go of our old ways, so God can change us
* Learn God for ourselves so that we won't only expect to hear from Him one way.
* Making God as a priority before we make a fool of ourselves trying to do things myself.
Prayer- Lord, I pray that You be with us and that we allow You to change our lives for the better. Help us to not become stiff-neck and forget all the blessings You've done for us. Lord give us the patience to endure every trial that You have us in. I pray that we apply every Word that we received to our lives daily. Help us to seek You first in all that we do, and allow You to take control of our emotions and our journey with You. In Jesus name, Amen!
