I was listening to Todd Galberth song “More Like You”, and what caught my attention was the revelation he shared in the song.
He said, he went to a potter’s house to film one of his songs, and the man began explaining the instructions on how to form the clay.
This is the part that got to me…
The man said, “the way to determine if the clay is ready is when it stops resisting against you”. Resisting against God will never allow us to be ready, but the moment we begin to let go and give ourselves to God totally we can be more like Him.
I’m learning to live a disciplined life, and the ultimate goal is to be more like Him. My leaders took the month of October to teach and preach on “Discipline”, and one thing they said if you don’t feel challenged then you’re not disciplining yourself right.
I would say that it is definitely a challenge because I didn’t realize how much I was resisting against Him. When I applied what I was taught, I noticed that my response to situations has changed. Also, I noticed the things that I would let sit on my heart, I begin to just give it to God immediately.
Can’t give the good without the bad right?
One lesson I’ve learned this week, if I don’t exercise discipline in every area and use discernment, then my mistakes can hurt others. By me not exercising discernment means I’m still resisting to listen to the small sound voice.
But to stop resisting means to become discipline!
Here are some ways
5 ways to apply discipline:
- Praying and Fasting
- Reading God’s Word
- Fellowship
- Doing for Others
- Seeking God for our purpose
